exercise tests
Exercise testing is a test that is commonly done to primarily identify the likelihood of underlying heart disease (coronary artery disease – narrowed blood vessels that supply the heart muscle). It is usually performed in people who have chest pain/discomfort/tightness.
The test is performed whilst connected to an ECG and blood pressure monitor on a treadmill. You will then be asked to walk and the speed of the treadmill and the steepness of the treadmill are gradually increase to make the heart work harder and examine how it performs under exercise.
It can also be a useful test to identify how the rhythm of the heart responds to exercise or may be done to try and reproduce any heart rhythm problems that can be triggered by exercise.
