cardiac mri

A cardiac MRI scan is one of the most detailed scans that we have to look at the heart. It provides complimentary information to that of an echocardiogram. The benefit of an MRI is that it can look in detail at not only how well the heart muscle pumps but can also identify problems with the make-up of the muscle itself which sometimes cannot be seen by an echo scan. Scarring of the heart can be identified by an MRI and the pattern and distribution of scarring in the heart can point to a particular cause. The extent of scarring in the heart by predispose to abnormal heart rhythms which can be potentially very serious.
